At the heart of the historic capital of Montenegro Cetinje, at the foot of Mount Eagle Crest is located is one of the main holy places in Montenegro Cetinje monastery. Founded in 1701, Metropolitan Daniel on the site of an earlier monastery destroyed by the Turks, it became the residence of Montenegrin metropolitans and a symbol of the country's Orthodox Church and the famous Montenegrin spirit.
The main monastery church dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. It contains the main shrine of the monastery: the relics of St. Peter Cetinje and incorruptible right hand of St. John the Baptist, as well as part of the Holy Cross. The museum of the monastery you can see the crown of St. Stephen Decani, stole St. Sava I, clothing and gifts Montenegrin metropolitans of Russian emperors, as well as a valuable collection of manuscripts and printed books of 13-19 centuries.
