St. Michael the Archangel monastery is located on the right bank of the river Tara. The church was built on the steep slopes of the shady canyon and is dedicated to St. Archangel Michael.
When and who built this church - is unknown, no documentary evidence has not been found. However, it is known that the church was destroyed several times and has long been used for its intended purpose, but simply overgrown forest.
In 1995 alone, nearly 120 years after the last failure, at the initiative of the Committee for the restoration of monasteries, work began on its reconstruction. According to the excavation, the church was buried in the ground is almost 1.5 meters in depth. Restoration work was carried out for about 5 years. During the work we found out that for a long time on the territory of the monastery were written the book. Surviving to the present day, albeit in poor condition, they represent a historical value and because of this were transferred for safekeeping in St. Petersburg in the Russian National Library. Currently, the monastery is a one-nave building with a semicircular apse. External length of the church 12.32 m, width 6.82 m. The roof is covered with lead plates. At 10 meters to the west of the church bell tower was built more than 10 meters.
On the south side of the church housed an ancient cemetery, as evidenced by the remains of tombs have survived to our times.
